പരശുറാം എക്സ്പ്രസ് എൽഎച്ച്ബി കോച്ചുകളിലേക്ക്; ജനറൽ കോച്ചുകൾ 16-ൽ നിന്ന് ഒമ്പതായി ചുരുങ്ങും, യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് ദുരിതമായി സീറ്റ് കുറവ്

തിരുവനന്തപുരം: മലബാറിനെയും തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തെയും ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ജനപ്രിയ ട്രെയിനായ പരശുറാം എക്സ്പ്രസ് കൂടുതൽ സുരക്ഷിതവും അത്യാധുനികവുമായ എൽ.എച്ച്.ബി (Linke Hofmann Busch) കോച്ചുകളിലേക്ക് മാറുന്നു. മംഗളൂരു സെൻട്രൽ – കന്യാകുമാരി പരശുറാം എക്സ്പ്രസ് (16649) സെപ്റ്റംബർ 22 മുതലും, കന്യാകുമാരി – മംഗളൂരു സെൻട്രൽ പരശുറാം എക്സ്പ്രസ് (16650) സെപ്റ്റംബർ 23 മുതലും പുതിയ എൽഎച്ച്ബി കോച്ചുകളുമായി സർവീസ് നടത്തുമെന്ന് റെയിൽവേ അറിയിച്ചു.സുരക്ഷയും യാത്രാസൗകര്യവും വർദ്ധിക്കുമെങ്കിലും സാധാരണക്കാരായ ജനറൽ യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് കനത്ത തിരിച്ചടിയാണ് പുതിയ മാറ്റം. നിലവിൽ ട്രെയിനിലുള്ള 16 ജനറൽ കോച്ചുകൾ ഒമ്പതായി ചുരുങ്ങും. ഇതോടെ അൺറിസർവ്ഡ് ജനറൽ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ മാത്രം 700 ഓളം സീറ്റുകളുടെ കുറവാണ് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്.നിലവിൽ 105 സീറ്റുകൾ വീതമുള്ള 16 ഐസിഎഫ് കോച്ചുകളിലായി 1680 ജനറൽ സീറ്റുകളാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ എൽഎച്ച്ബിയിലേക്ക് മാറുന്നതോടെ 108 സീറ്റുകൾ വീതമുള്ള 9 കോച്ചുകളിലായി ഇത് 970 സീറ്റുകളായി പരിമിതപ്പെടും. അതേസമയം റിസർവേഷൻ ഡിമാൻഡ് കൂടുതലായതിനാൽ സെക്കൻഡ് സിറ്റിങ് (2S) റിസർവ്ഡ് കോച്ചുകളുടെ എണ്ണം ഒമ്പതായി ഉയർത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.പുതിയ കോച്ച് ഘടന (Coach Composition):എസി ചെയർ കാർ (AC Chair Car) – 2സെക്കൻഡ് സിറ്റിങ് റിസർവ്ഡ് (2S) – 9ജനറൽ സെക്കൻഡ് ക്ലാസ് (General) – 9സെക്കൻഡ് ക്ലാസ് കം ലഗേജ് ബ്രേക്ക് വാൻ – 1ജനറേറ്റർ കാർ കോച്ച് – 1കേരളത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ ആളുകൾ ദൈനംദിന യാത്രകൾക്കായി ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാന ട്രെയിനുകളിലൊന്നാണ് പരശുറാം എക്സ്പ്രസ്. നിലവിൽ 16 ജനറൽ കോച്ചുകൾ ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ തന്നെ വൻ ജനതിരക്ക് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ട്രെയിനിൽ, കോച്ചുകൾ ഒമ്പതായി കുറയുന്നത് വരും ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ തിരക്ക് നിയന്ത്രണാതീതമാക്കുമെന്ന ആശങ്ക ശക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

LHB Upgrade Announced: The popular Parasuram Express (16649/16650) connecting Mangaluru and Kanyakumari via Kerala will switch from traditional ICF rakes to modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches.Effective Dates: The upgrade will take effect on September 22, 2026, for the Mangaluru-Kanyakumari service, and on September 23, 2026, for the return journey.Reduction in General Coaches: To the dismay of daily unreserved commuters, the number of general unreserved coaches will drop from 16 to 9.Loss of 700 General Seats: The seat capacity in the unreserved section will plummet from 1,680 seats to 970 seats, resulting in a net loss of over 700 unreserved seats.Increase in Reserved Seating: Acknowledging high reservation demand, the railway has expanded the Second Sitting (2S) reserved category to 9 coaches (970 seats).New Train Layout: The final LHB composition will include 2 AC Chair Cars, 9 Second Sitting (2S) coaches, 9 General coaches, 1 Luggage-cum-Brake Van, and 1 Generator Car.Overcrowding Concerns: As one of Kerala’s most heavily patronised short-distance day trains, the reduction of unreserved coaches is expected to cause severe overcrowding and inconvenience to daily commuters, students, and officegoers.
